CD30
Recommended positive controls: Reactive lymphoid tissue (activated immunoblasts etc). CD30-positive lymphomas.
Staining pattern: Golgi + membrane. Always confirm Golgi-staining.
Diagnostic utilities:
In normal tissues, positive in activated B- and T-cells.
・Classical Hodgkin lymphomas. Reed Sternberg cells are commonly positive.
・Anaplastic large cell lymphoma.
・Cutaneous CD30+ lymphoproliferative dysorders (lymphomatoid papulosis, primary cutaneous ALCL) .
・L&H cells in nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (N-LPHL) are NEGATIVE. Small number of CD30-positive cells can be seen in N-LPHL, but those cells are not L&H cells but reactive lymphoid cells.
・The other types of lymphoma may be positive.
・Some non-hematolymphoid neoplasms. embryobal carcinoma, melanoma, mesothelioma, sarcoma etc (Cancer. 1990 Oct 15;66(8):1732-7)
