近年になり登場してきた汎B細胞マーカー。octamer motif (5′-ATTTGCAT-3′). と特異的に結合するDNA binding transcription factorである。
形質細胞を含めた広い範囲のB細胞に陽性。特に形質細胞腫の診断に有用。 Reed-Sternberg細胞は60%程度に陽性（Garcia-Cosio M, Santon A, Martin P, Camarasa N, Montalban C, Garcia JF, Bellas C. Analysis of transcription factor OCT.1, OCT.2 and BOB.1 expression using tissue arrays in classical Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Mod Pathol. 2004 Dec;17(12):1531-8. ）。
また、Bob.1との組み合わせで、classical Hodgkin lymphomaでは両者が陰性か片方しか陽性を示さないのに対し、diffuse large B-cell lymphomaやN-LPHLは両者が陽性となり鑑別に有効との報告もある。(Browne P, Petrosyan K, Hernandez A, Chan JA. The B-cell transcription factors BSAP, Oct-2, and BOB.1 and the pan-B-cell markers CD20, CD22, and CD79a are useful in the differential diagnosis of classic Hodgkin lymphoma. plasmacytomaでの染色例。右はPAX5で、形質細胞では陰性となる。κ、λが両者陰性の症例で、この結果が確定診断に有用であった。
