CD138

2015年3月16日

Reactiviry:  Plasma cells and lymphoid neoplasms with plasmacytic differentiation. Endothelial cells and fibroblasts are also positive. (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=14983940[uid])

Diagnostic utilities: CD138 antigen is also known as Syndecan-1, a member of the transmembrane heparan sulfate proteoglycan family4, and an important marker for plasmacytic differentiation. Plasmacytic differentiation can be seen in various tyoes of lymphoid neoplsms include plasmacytoma, lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma, CLL/lymhoplasmacytoid lymphoma, marginal zone lymphoma, some diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, and rarely in Byrkitt lymphoma and follicular lymphoma.

This marker is also used for distinction between germinal and non-germinal sybtypes of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, as a member of combination of several antibodies.

pitfallSpecificity is unsatisfactory, because many kinds of epithelial tumors may be positive.
